Severe weather for portions Northeast seaboard today

Portions of the northeast along the eastern seaboard are under the threat of severe weather today extending from Massachusetts to Delaware. The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for several states.

The severe weather risks include heavy rain and coastal flooding, strong thunderstorms, damaging wind gusts, and large hail. The potential for a tornado cannot be ruled out, although the risk remains low.

Severe weather will also be a threat inland. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for several counties in Pennsylvania, warning that power outages could occur.

Large severe weather outbreak in Texas

The southeast quarter of Texas is under risk of severe weather today extending from Brownsville in the South, northward just above Houston.

The severe weather risk is a level 3 out of 5, and the dangers include heavy rain, flash flooding, large hail, damaging winds, and potentially isolated tornadoes.

The greatest risk of severe weather, especially flash flooding, is in Houston and areas west and north of the city, extending all the way to San Antonio.

The risk of severe weather returns on Saturday.
